Minnesota can control the game by keeping its quarterback’s decisions simple, settling the offensive line around versatile returner Greg Johnson and letting the defensive front dictate down and distance. Johnson started every game last season across three line positions and gives the group a flexible piece up front. Eastern Illinois’ plan should be equally clear: protect the ball, stay out of third-and-long and make Minnesota’s defensive backs tackle repeatedly in space.
