Tarleton State at Bowling Green

The sharpest matchup is Tarleton’s protection against a Bowling Green front with proven disruption. Myles Bradley remains on Bowling Green’s roster after producing five sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss in 2025, and Toledo transfer John Baker IV adds another edge option. Tarleton does not need to identify a featured blocker to understand the assignment: its line must keep obvious passing downs from becoming a parade of long-yardage snaps. On the other side, Bowling Green can ask Austyn Dendy, who rushed for 493 yards and five touchdowns last season, to test a Tarleton defensive front that lists Caden Holt, Jadan Aubert and Jeremiah Postell.

Tarleton’s route to control starts with field position and restraint. Whichever quarterback takes the first snap must avoid giveaways, stay out of third-and-long and turn a few manageable chances into explosive plays; defensively, Tarleton needs early-down wins that prevent Dendy and Bowling Green’s backs from setting the pace. Bowling Green’s route is to make home field matter through pressure, negative plays and clean tackling. If Bowling Green can protect whichever quarterback emerges, use Dendy and Charleston Southern transfer Ke’Marion Baldwin to sustain possessions, and let Bradley, Baker and Kal-El Pascal attack predictable downs, it can dictate terms without forcing its quarterback to carry every high-leverage snap.
