ACU’s clearest route is to lean on Banks and its experienced linemen, shorten the game and make Texas Tech’s new quarterback produce through a limited number of possessions. Defensively, Kortlin Rausaw and Chris Herpin must generate pressure without exposing a rebuilt linebacker corps to Cameron Dickey and J’Koby Williams in space. Texas Tech can take command by establishing Dickey and Williams behind Howard Sampson, Sheridan Wilson and Jacob Ponton, allowing its quarterback to settle into Mack Leftwich’s balanced attack. The Red Raiders do not need to force early fireworks; clean protection, steady rushing success and disciplined pursuit against Banks would steadily squeeze ACU’s options.
